Wow, this blogging gig is tough. It's Tuesday night, and I gotta catch up with myself...

Saw Madonna last week on her Reinvention tour. 20th row floor seats. I could almost reach out and touch her when she came out on the catwalk. Well, almost. She looks amazing. Can't believe I've missed all her other shows. This is supposedly her last tour (aren't they saying that about Prince, and he's coming back in September?), and if it is, I feel pretty damn lucky to have seen her. And speaking of shows, I think I've outdone myself this year. At the start of the year, I was saying that I hardly go to concerts anymore. Now I've been to four and the fifth one is coming up in a couple of days. I've been to Britney (yep, proud of it too), Prince, Madonna, and BFD. Saw Beastie Boys @ BFD... they still got it... and I don't care what anyone else says. This Saturday, it's No Doubt and Blink 182. My friend, Gwen, as I like to say. We met in front of the Four Seasons in NYC. Think she remembers? Not sure what else I have lined up after that. I'm sure Junipero Serra may have some ideas...

On a non-concert-related note, I'm 2 1/2 weeks closer to my mini-vacation in Miami. Never been. People tell me I'll like it there... so much that I might not wanna come back. Not sure what that says about me, but it sounds like it'll be a good time. Fo sho.

Hot Behind

That's actually a culinary term. But yes, I'm behind on my blog. How can I be lagging when I pretty much just started? Oh that's right, I've been out. Since my last entry, I've taken a roadtrip to LA for Memorial Day weekend, went to the Prince concert, and hit the Union Street Fair. Here's the abridged version of the last week and a half:

In La La Land:
Bliss - minimal clothing allowed at that club
Standard - guess they let anyone in that bar these days
Standard Diner - they really need to invest in unbreakable glassware
Sunset/Hollywood Blvd./Melrose - excellent shoe selection
El Guapo - good sangria
Random bar on Melrose - break out the red lights
Blowfish Sushi - just as good as the one in SF
Forbidden City - good hip hop
Spider Club - how elite of us
Avelon - talk about a scene
Hermosa Beach Fair - made me miss living there

Great trip. I'd do it again w/ these girls...

Prince concert -- Talk about a show. It was his best concert yet, and I've been to three. I couldn't sit down. And if I were sitting just a little bit closer, I would've definitely tried to make my way on that stage. Ever since De La Soul, it's become a goal...

Union Street Fair -- Gotta love summer in SF. I went back to my Kansas roots this weekend, and it turned out to be one of my best trips home yet. I got to spend quality time w/ my family and childhood friends, and everyone went out of their way for me. My relatives gave me a place to stay and fed me well, Stef drove up from Dallas, Rachelle took the day off work, Annie blocked off her day, and Nicole took me out on the town. I only saw one ten gallon hat while I was there-- a true sign things have changed since I'd last been home.

My cousins are teenagers now, and their stories are suprisingly similar to mine when I was in high school. I love that they're older so I don't feel like I have to shelter them anymore. I think I may have even gained some street cred, now that they know I wasn't quite so perfect... close, but not perfect. Cecile graduated from high school, which is why I went home, and she'll be @ KU in the fall studying engineering. I can't help her much w/ that, but I can definitely give her advice on rush... or 'fall recruitment' as they're calling it this year. Whatever, it's still sorority life, and I was damn good at that. Christine is a cheerleader now, following in my footsteps. Thata girl. Rhys is turning into quite the playa, and Cassey's the star of her soccer team. Do I sound like a proud cousin or what? Well, I am.

My family and friends are the best. And it's weekends like this that make me appreciate them even more.

Only in SF

This really is an amazing city, and I'm always reminded of it during Bay to Breakers. Even when the weather is crappy, it's still a good time. Luckily today, we had it all -- good weather, good friends, and of course, the 40s. 2 dollars out da door. I can't wait to see the photos... or can I?

Kim, Jen and I jumped in at Webster/Hayes and met up with K Shepps. From there, it was nothing but nonstop madness. We made a new friend, Trish... and then we didn't. She crossed the line w/ Kimmy... oops. Did you know keg stands never go outta style? Ran into Brent, Eric, Rich et al halfway through, and took Chris with us to the finish. Walked to Earl's and made a salad... what? That was it for me. 6 hours from the start of the day and I was out. Saturday night out w/ Jami probably didn't help much... but that sure was a lot of fun too.

Ahh, the city. I love this place.

Mean Girls

I saw the movie and funny enough, it turned out to be the theme of last weekend... unintentionally, of course. I knew it was going to be a good night when the impatient road-rage-provoking cabby and the completely un-pc midget/mammoth comments came into play. Kimmy, Christin and I didn't actually get mean until we were mistaken for being 'nice girls.' I was just trying to be funny... but I guess not everyone gets my sarcasm. Kimmy topped the night though. When she said "it ain't gonna happen," that was the last call... literally. Wow, that girl sure can put guys on front street. And make mean dessert. That's why she's my friend.

I did it!

My first blog... now let's see how long I can keep this up.
